Jedna z najważniejszych wczesnych prac w tym zakresie "Polska terminologia chrześcijańska" Edmunda Klicha z 1927 roku jednoznacznie wskazywała na pośrednictwo czeskie w przyjmowaniu terminologii chrześcijańskiej w języku staropolskim. Językoznawcy wskazywali jednak problemy z możliwością dokładnego określenia pochodzenia terminologii - głównie brak źródeł staropolskich z okresu przyjmowania chrześcijaństwa. Często jednak w wypadku braku stricte językoznawczych argumentów za jednoznacznym pochodzeniem danego wyrazu przywoływali odkrycia historyków i założenie, że chrześcijaństwo przyszło do Polski z Czech więc i terminologia zapewne również. Współcześnie zarówno wśród historyków, jak i językoznawców można znaleźć coraz więcej głosów krytycznych wobec takiego podejścia. Celem proponowanej sekcji jest wznowienie dyskusji między językoznawcami oraz historykami nad możliwościami ustalenia pochodzenia staropolskiej terminologii chrześcijańskiej oraz problemami jakie się z tym wiążą.
The origin of Old Polish Christian terminology have, since the beginning of research in this area, been associated with Czech influence and the assumption that Christianity came to the Piast state from Bohemia. One of the most important early works in this field, "Polska terminologia chrześcijańska" by Edmund Klich from 1927, clearly indicated the Czech mediation in the adoption of Christian terminology in the Old Polish language. However, linguists pointed out the challenges in accurately determining the origins of this terminology, primarily due to the lack of Old Polish sources from the earliest Chrisian period. Often, in the absence of strictly linguistic arguments for the origin of a given word, they pointed out the discoveries of historians and the assumption that Christianity came to Poland from Bohemia, and thus the terminology likely did as well. Currently, among both historians and linguists, there is a growing number of critical voices regarding this approach. The aim of the proposed section is to renew the discussion between linguists and historians on the possibilities of establishing the origin of Old Polish Christian terminology and the challenges connected with it.
